Gadzooks! Quite a bit of new music that has been released recently – particularly from an eclectic range of well-known names (U2, Arcade Fire, The National, Jack Johnson, Tori Amos). Then there are some new tunes from lesser knowns but still faves of mine (Iron & Wine, Belle & Sebastian, Stars).
PS – Try and listen to St. Vincent’s “New York” without getting it stuck in your head (warning explicit language).
We are taking our oldest to college for the FIRST TIME tomorrow. Yikes! God help me…I thought I would be ready when this day came. But I am realizing that I am totally unprepared. So here is a “Goodbye Songs” playlist that I found while thinking about this big week!
Good luck to everyone heading off to college!
Happy happy summer! This month’s playlist, “BBQ” was first heard at a graduation celebration and created by the guest of honor, Stina Arstorp. Start playing it now – it’s so good! Seriously, no Spotify “discovery” list could do as good a job as Stina has in creating the perfect mix of easy listening tunes best enjoyed hanging out with friends on the patio, deck or beach!
It was high school graduation time last week around here. On a drizzly Friday June afternoon, we enjoyed the pomp and circumstance, watching our son receive his diploma, switch the tassel, and throw his graduation cap in the air. I can’t believe that we have a child going to college in the fall. I don’t know about you, but I feel as though I only just graduated myself a few years ago. So as I always do at times of emotion and significance, I “playlist”. Here’s a crowd-sourced list of tunes for that very special time in a young person’s life when anything seems possible! Good luck to grads everywhere!
This playlist was inspired in Mexico earlier this month, when my mom started digging on Thievery Corporation playing in the background at a Sayulita beach cafe. We (my mom, sisters and I) were chilling out for the afternoon enjoying the weather, taking surfing lessons, getting massages and very much enjoying lots of coffee, cervezas and margaritas (not necessarily in that order). So enjoy “May Mex Mish Mash”, which brings a south of the border feel along with some new chill tunes.
